If you own a door intercom or if you are looking to buy one, then it is important to read this. What I am going to share with you here is a brief overview of the information that you need to know about door intercoms.

First, what kind of door intercom should you buy? There are two basic types of intercoms: wired and wireless. Wired ones are also called PIR intercoms or Point of Interest (POI) intercoms.

When choosing between wired and wireless door intercoms, the most important thing to consider is security. Although it may not seem like it, the way your door intercom operates depends greatly on the way the electronics inside it work.

You see, when you have a door intercom, you have two choices inactivating it. The first is through manual or keypads. As the name implies, these open and close the doors based on your keypad.

However, if you don’t want to open and close your door with your keypad, the second option is by using a door intercom. Using an “on-door” or on-opener works in the same way as a keypad.

These two options, whether a keypad or an on-door or on-opener, are not the only ways that a door intercom can be activated. For example, there are door intercoms that use audio cues and movements to activate the door intercom.

In either case, both options will keep track of who is in the house at any given time. They will allow you to know if you’re getting mail or if a visitor comes to your door.

Now that you know what type of door intercom you should buy, you should also know which one you should get. Here are some tips that might help you make the right choice.

A keypad door intercom is the most common type of door intercom. It can be either wireless or wired, and its functions are almost identical to a keypad. Some examples of keypad door intercoms are Doorpatech, Dyson, and proximity.

A wireless door intercom is a good choice if you want a cheaper door intercom. With wireless door intercoms, you don’t have to worry about opening and closing the door with your keypad.

However, if you want a more advanced door intercom, then you should go with a wired door intercom. A wired door intercom also has some similarities to a keypad, but it also works in a very different way. This is because a wired door intercom utilizes signals that are transmitted through your door and to the outside world.

Both wired and keypad door intercoms can detect movement, whether it is light or noise. When you buy one of these, just be sure to consider all of the options that you have.
